July 2005
Dear
St. Paul family members,
I am
writing to introduce myself to those of you I am not yet
privileged to know. I grew up in Alpena with my parents,
Gene and Joyce Sobeck, two brothers and two sisters. I began
playing the organ at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church
when I was about 14. I also played at Trinity Episcopal,
Hillman United Methodist and the Congregational Church
before I graduated from Alpena High. I attended Western
Michigan University and graduated in 1995 to return to the
area. I began work as the choir director and organist of St.
John’s again and also began teaching in Alcona as the K-12
music teacher.
I
currently live on Long Lake and enjoy the peace of my home
and the company of my two cats. I am an avid wave runner
rider, semi-proficient water skier and racquetball fanatic.
I golf and scrapbook as pastimes with my mother and enjoy
family dinners with my parents and my sister’s family that
lives locally.
I
have many ideas for the growth of the music ministry here at
St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church. It has been a
wonderful and well-respected program up to this point under
the direction of Sandi Sims and I hope to expand its growth.
I have been welcomed so wonderfully here that I know I will
find many people willing to come forward and join us in our
ministry. Thank you for who you are and who you will be in
forming me in my faith life and ministry here.
Love, peace and faith in Him,
Julie Wood
