We’ve just completed a three-year mission plan for the music
ministry and are looking to begin another plan. Your input
is valuable in helping us know how we can “enhance the
proclamation of God’s word through music.” Please complete
the survey which will be used to help guide the direction of
the next mission plan. Surveys should be completed by
August 10th. Thank you! Surveys are available in the
narthex and in the August newsletter.
This week we join in prayer with the other LARCC churches
(Grace Lutheran, Trinity Episcopal, First Congregational,
St. Anne, St. Mary, St. Bernard and St. John the Baptist
Catholic churches) for the Lectors and Eucharistic Ministers
at St. Bernard Catholic Church.
The
Egermeier’s Bible Story Book readings for next week are:
Jacob and Esau Meet Again, page 49, and A Boy’s Lunch
Basket, page 413. Parents, will you invest ten minutes a
day in your children by reading God’s word with them? All it
takes is time. I’ll bet you’re willing to give it.

About St. Paul’s Eucharistic Ministry: Christianity is
essentially a lay movement. Think about that for a moment.
Long before there were ever ordained pastors, Christians
were gathering to hear the word and share the Lord’s
Supper. We have in our congregation now trained lay people
who will help extend the Lord’s Supper, extend God’s table,
if you will, to our homebound members who are not able to
come to God’s house. These folks will see that more regular
visits are paid to our shut-ins and that they have a chance
to be nourished at God’s table. So, the first weekend of
each month, you’ll see the communion kits that they will use
out on the altar. We will bless the Eucharistic Ministers
present at the service and then everyone will be sent out to
“Serve the Lord with gladness.” Again, this ministry is an
extension of the meal that we share here together. If you
have questions or want to learn more, contact Gerry
Ludwig, 356-1059, or Pastor Paul (paul@stpaul.org),
356-1658.
NEEDED: Pint and half pint jelly jars for canning. Please
leave them in the room next to Julie’s office, across from
the lounge. If you have any questions please contact Andrea
at 354-3651.
Habitat for Humanity is building two homes on Jefferson
Street in Alpena. We have volunteers coming from other
states to help us through the month of August. They are
called “Care-A-Vanners.” We ask that churches and anyone
that would volunteer to take lunch, snacks or drinks to the
volunteers that are helping with the builds. If you can
serve in this way please call me, 356-3509, and sign up for
days in August in which you could help us feed these people
lunches. Thank you so much for whatever you can do for us.
It is so appreciated. Gloria Egelski, Habitat for Humanity,
Alpena Area, Volunteer Coordinator
