Would you please help the church office keep our list current?  Unless we know otherwise, our normal practice is to remove names after a month.  Thank you for your partnership in prayer.)  If there are other people you know of that are serving please contact the church office so that we may add them to our prayer list.

We remember our prayer partners in the North/West Lower Michigan Synod:

Please keep Brock and Kristine Johnson and their kids, Ted and Grace, in your prayers.  Kristine had a miscarriage this past week.

The Egermeier’s Bible Story Book readings for next week are: How the World Was Made, page 11, and Jesus Heals a Withered Hand, page 392.  Parents, will you invest ten minutes a day in your children by reading God’s word with them? All it takes is time.  I’ll bet you’re willing to give it.

The Coffee Hour has ended for the summer and will begin again on September 7, 2008.  If you have any questions please contact Sandy Froggett, 358-0118.

Easy does it Yoga with Judy begins June 3 from 7:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. and will meet on Tuesdays and Thursday in the multipurpose room at St. Paul Lutheran.  If you have any questions please call 354-5507.

The Alpena High School and the community of faith invite you to the Baccalaureate for the class of 2008 which will be held Tuesday, May 27th at the Word of Life Baptist Church (on Bagley Street) at 7:00 p.m.  Come support and bless the Alpena High School graduates as they begin their new journeys and paths of life.

There will be a Friday Night Supper at St. Paul Lutheran Church on May 30, to benefit Faith and Hope Hospitality House.  They will be serving from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. a pulled pork dinner with macaroni and potato salad with assorted cakes for dessert.  Adults are $7.00 and children 8 and under are $5.00.  Tickets are available in the church office.  If you have any questions please contact Theresa Stoppa at 356-1381.  (Supplemental Funding Provided by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.)

Cameroon Trip Presentation: An additional presentation of the Cameroon trip report has been scheduled for Wednesday, June 4, at 11:00 a.m. in the multi-purpose room.  Afterward lunch will be served in the dining room.  While this additional presentation was planned with St. Paul “snowbirds” in mind, all of you are invited to come and hear about this very important accomplishment toward meeting the goals of our Global Mission Plan.  You are encouraged to invite your friends, as well.  If you have any questions please contact Don Cantleberry at 354-5504.

The Besser Male Chorus and the Rotary Club of Alpena will be presenting their 61st Annual Spring Concert on Thursday, June 5, at 7:30 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church.  General admission is $5.00 at the door (the corner of Second and Mirre).  Profits will benefit local Rotary charities.  If you have any questions contact David Usher at 471-9182.

A Christian Unity Service will be held on Sunday, June 8. The ecumenical worship service will be at Grace Lutheran Church at 7:00 p.m.  All the area church families are encouraged to participate.  The LARCC Churches are hosting this community wide celebration. Everyone is invited to join us.  For more information contact Don Smith, 354-4479 or Pastor Rod, 356-1658.

In spite of rain, road construction blocking the usual entrance to the First Presbyterian Church and a power outage, the May 14th Blood Drive was successful.  Thank you to the men who came to unload the equipment, the women who donated the delicious home-made cookies, the volunteers who worked at the site, the blood donors and the callers who reminded past donors of the Blood Drive.  Thanks to your efforts, 61 units of blood were collected.  Ann Hardesty

Pastor Kurt Peterson called and wishes to thank everyone for their prayers and cards.
