FLOWERS IN THE CHANCEL (foot of the cross)
are given in celebration of Rodney and JoEllen Lang’s 20th
Wedding Anniversary, April 16.
The April Service Activity is the Baby Pantry
which is located on the corner of 9th and Chisholm. Items
needed: Powdered baby formula, food, diapers, baby wipes,
new/gently used baby clothes, baby bedding, high chairs,
strollers, toys and books. Please leave donations in the
provided baskets in the Narthex (back of Sanctuary),
hallway, or Fellowship Hall. If you have any questions
please contact Joan Lavoie at 354-8819.
This week we join in prayer with the other
LARCC churches (Grace Lutheran, Trinity Episcopal, First
Congregational, St. Anne, St. Mary, St. Bernard and St. John
the Baptist Catholic churches) for Spiritual Growth and
Renewal for the LARCC Parishes.
The Egermeier’s Bible Story Book readings for
next week are: Stephen Is Stoned, page 502, Saul on the Road
to Damascus, page 509, Saul Becomes a Follower, page 512 and
Saul Escapes in a Basket, page 513. Parents, will you invest
ten minutes a day in your children by reading God’s word
with them? All it takes is time. I’ll bet you’re willing to
give it.
Thank you to everyone who donated to the
March Service Activity which was Soap for Lutheran World
Relief. There were 583 bars of soap collected. Also, in
regards to the February Activity, over 20 bags of canned
goods were donated and then delivered to the Sunrise
Mission. Thank you for your generosity. It really makes a
difference!
Congratulations to Norman and Courtney (Parkham)
Schultz on their wedding, April 18, 2008. May the Lord
bless this union.

Coming in May… U.S. Religious Landscape &
Implications for St. Paul (May 4 and 11): Since before Paul
Revere made his midnight ride, religion has been a major
factor in shaping the identity and values of the American
people. Despite predictions that the United States would
follow Europe’s path toward widespread unbelief, the U.S.
population remains highly religious in its beliefs and
practices, and religion continues to play a prominent role
in American public life. But, changes are afoot. More
than one-quarter of American adults (28%) have left the
faith in which they were raised in favor of another religion
– or no religion at all. In two sessions, we will take a
very brief look at the findings of the U.S. Religious
Landscape Survey (released in Feb ’08 by the Pew Forum on
Religion and Public Life)…and we will consider implications
for St. Paul’s ministry. The class will meet at 9:20 in the
multi-purpose room and be led by Pastor Paul.
St. Paul will be sponsoring the Alpena
Community Blood Drive at the First Presbyterian Church in
Alpena on Wednesday, May 14 from 12:00 – 5:45 p.m.
Volunteers are needed to make this a successful blood
drive. If you are able to donate cookies, please contact
Lori Ludwig, 356-4753. Other helpers will be needed to
register donors, give out refreshments, help to load or
unload equipment, and to make phone calls to remind donors
of the blood drive. If you are willing to help with these
tasks, please call Ann Hardesty, 471-5304. Thank
you.
