SUNDAY
SCHOOL EASTER PLAY PRESENTATION: On Sunday, March 30, the
Sunday school of St. Paul will present "Props for Easter."
Please join us as we take a look at Easter from the contents
on an Easter basket. You'll be surprised, entertained,
humbled and amazed at what we find. We invite all members
from the congregation and children to join us for a short
fellowship before and after the presentation on Sunday,
March 30 9:30 a.m. in the Multi Purpose Room. If you have
any questions, please contact Esther Kindt at 471-2274.
The Long
Rapids Community Chorus will present “Easter Joy” on Sunday,
March 30, at St. Matthews Lutheran Church (7109 Wolf Creek,
Herron) at 4:00 p.m., and Sunday, April 6 at 4:00 p.m. at
the First United Methodist Church, 167 S. Ripley. If you
have any questions please contact Anne Olsen at
354-5461.
The
Outreach Committee could use your help with our friendly
visitor bread distribution to non- members who come to our
services. It simply involves a short visit with a loaf of
bread and a magnet and newsletter with an invitation to come
back and a “thank you” for coming; and only two Sundays a
year! If you are interested, call Cathy Kieliszewski at
358-9170 or Helen Ellenberger at 884-2133.
The
Egermeier’s Bible Story Book readings for next week are:
The Watchers at the Tomb, page 480, and Jesus Rises from
the Dead, page 482. Parents, will you invest ten minutes a
day in your children by reading God’s word with them? All it
takes is time. I’ll bet you’re willing to give it.
This
week we join in prayer with the other LARCC churches (Grace
Lutheran, Trinity Episcopal, First Congregational,
St. Anne, St. Mary, St. Bernard and St. John the Baptist
Catholic churches) for the Hospice of Michigan and the
Hospice of the Sunrise Side
Discipleship Orientation – What does God expect of his
disciples? This three session class is based on the 5 ways
of life God has prepared for us as his disciples: weekly
worship, learning, praying, serving, giving. A refresher
for established folks and fresh orientation for those
joining St. Paul’s ministry. Teachers: Pastor Paul, Pastor
Rod, Julie Wood and lay leaders. If you have any questions
you can contact one of the pastors at the church, 356-1658.
This class will meet in the multi-purpose room at 9:20 on
April 6, 13, and 20. New disciples will be received into
our ministry on Sunday, April 27, at the 10:30 service with
a luncheon following the service.
Looking
to connect with Jesus, a few other people…and grow
yourself? Some new small group Bible studies are forming
in April. We will meet about 5-6 times, every week or two;
and we’ll rap up before summer. If you are interested in a
group for couples, working women, or working men one of
these opportunities might fit you. We will encourage each
other, give an ear to God’s word, and pray for each other.
Pastor Paul will be the teacher for these informal groups.
For more info. or to sign up, please contact Kathy Froggett
(354-7126) Wayne Kowalski (356-2882) or Pastor Paul
(356-1658 or paul@stpaul.org)
St Paul
Lutheran Church in Alpena will be hosting a Christian
Country Concert on Saturday, April 5 at 5:30 p.m. Nashville
recording artists the Colmus Family have roots in Michigan
and Kentucky. They have been touring the US and Canada for
many years. Their style of music is described as country
with a Jesus kick. A band will accept a free will offering
to support their ministry. For more information call the
church office at (989) 356-1658.
Several
people have been asking for Pastor Kurt Peterson’s address.
It is as follows: 108 Burwick Park Drive, Saline, Michigan
48176.
The
March Service Activity is Soap for Lutheran World Relief. A
brand new bar of soap signals dignity and cleanliness.
Lutheran World Relief accepts new bars of any brand soap, in
its original wrapping. All bar sizes are accepted; however,
bath-size bars (4-5 oz.) are highly preferred. Please place
one or more items in collection baskets in the narthex,
fellowship hall or entry in to the Sanctuary. Questions?
