Reading God’s Word at Home: The Egermeier’s
Bible Story Book readings for next week are: God Gives the
Ten Commandments, page 96, The Ten Commandments, page 99,
and The Mount of Transfiguration, page 422. Parents, will
you invest ten minutes a day in your children by reading
God’s word with them? All it takes is time. I’ll bet you’re
willing to give it.
This week we join in prayer with the other
LARCC churches (Grace Lutheran, Trinity Episcopal, First
Congregational, St. Anne, St. Mary, St. Bernard and St. John
the Baptist Catholic churches) for the Rosary Society at St.
Mary Catholic Church.
Coffee Hour: Lois Circle is going to do the
coffee hour for the month of February. The Education
Committee will do March and the Crafters will do April. If
you or your group would like to host a month please call
Sandy Froggett at 358-0118.
“Holy Communion Instruction – Faith Stepping
Stone 5” (beginning Feb. 10 and going through March 16) For
4th graders and their parents. This class teaches parents
and children about Holy Communion and forgiveness in the
family. Students receive the Lord’s Supper for their first
time on Maundy Thursday. If you have any questions about
this Faith Stepping Stone please contact Mary Zann
(358-9890 or zannm@alpenaschools.com) or Pastor Paul
(356-1658 or paul@stpaul.org) or Amy Ferguson (595-6653 or
pol1750@aol.com)
This morning our High School youth will be
collecting donations for the Sunrise Mission in Alpena after
each service. The students will be located at each exit
with a soup pot for all donations.
The team that St. Paul sent to Cameroon has
returned in good order. Georgene Hildebrand, Burt Basney,
Marty Cantleberry, Pastor Paul, and Don Albrecht (St. John
Lutheran Chruch/Saginaw) learned a great deal and carried
out the objectives with which the congregation charged them.
On Sunday, February 17, 9:20 in the multi-purpose room, you
are all invited to come hear and see their report to the
congregation. They will have a slide show, written report,
and will be eager to respond to your questions. For more
info, contact Don Cantleberry 354-5504.
We will be having two worship services on Ash
Wednesday, February 6. One service is at 11:00 a.m. and the
other at 7:00 p.m. Everyone is invited to join us. The
focus will be “Repentance: God is Working on You.”
About St. Paul’s Eucharistic Ministry:
Christianity is essentially a lay movement. Think about
that for a moment. Long before there were ever ordained
pastors, Christians were gathering to hear the word and
share the Lord’s Supper. We have in our congregation now
trained lay people who will help extend the Lord’s Supper,
extend God’s table, if you will, to our homebound members
who are not able to come to God’s house. These folks will
see that more regular visits are paid to our shut-ins and
that they have a chance to be nourished at God’s table. So,
the first weekend of each month, you’ll see the communion
kits that they will use out on the altar. We will bless the
Eucharistic Ministers present at the service and then
everyone will be sent out to “Serve the Lord with gladness.”
Again, this ministry is an extension of the meal that we
share here together. If you have questions or want to learn
more, please contact Gerry Ludwig, 356-1059, or Pastor Paul
(paul@stpaul.org), 356-1658.
The February Service Activity is Souper bowl
of Caring. Items needed for the Alpena Area: canned goods.
Please place items in collection baskets in the narthex,
fellowship hall or entry in to the Sanctuary. Questions?
