“Have you noticed the new Trust and Endowment
plaque in the narthex?” It is located on the north wall
next to the doorway. It is in recognition of those
individuals who have named St. Paul in their planning. To
find out more about the Trust and Endowment fund or how to
have your name included you can call Augie Matuzak at
356-2833."
Beverage Tab Update: The Confirmation
Students of St. Paul would like to thank you for the tabs
you have dropped off at St. Paul. Currently we have 4 large
Rubbermaid totes filled with the little silvery tabs. For
every tab collected, the Ronald McDonald House in Lansing
will receive one penny. This money is used to help children
with medical problems that may not have insurance to cover
their medical costs. Please continue to drop your tabs
off. There are collection containers in the Narthex, Dining
Room and at the bottom of the stair going towards the Dining
Room. If you have any questions, contact Kathy at 354-7126.
Renovation and Renewal: In the past and into
the future St. Paul renovates its facility in order to help
with the renewal of people. At the 10:30 service this
weekend we thank God for the diligent work of the previous R
& R Committee and we “pass the baton” to the new R & R
Committee. Previous Committee Members: Harry Werth, Ron
Werner, Tom Bates, Jerry Sloan, Sharon Anderson, Bob Olsen
(deceased) and Marge Cogswell (recording secretary). New
Committee Members: Augie Matuzak, Peggy Matuzak, Owen Werth,
Dennis Kindt, Richard Genschaw and Bill Schwartz. For
information regarding plans for renovation of the education
building please contact Augie Matuzak at amatuzak@freeway.net
or 356-2833.
The Annual Meeting will be October 21 after
the 10:30 a.m. service. Reports are due in the church
office by Friday, September 28th. If you would like to
email your report, please send it to linda@stpaul.org.
Attention all 6th, 7th and 8th graders: We
need you to sign up to acolyte for the remaining month of
September and for October. Please call Val Urban at
356-4613. Thank you.
St. James & Trinity Mission Festival: In
addition to our common Lord, Jesus Christ, St. Paul
congregation shares its mission history with St. James
Lutheran Church in Rogers City and Trinity in Ocqueoc. From
1876-1878 and briefly in 1901, St. Paul called Rev.
Christian Schwann as its pastor. Pastor Schwann went from
St. Paul to help establish these two congregations in the
Rogers City-Ocqueoc area. For many years, these two
congregations have held Mission Festivals, emphasizing that
all baptized Christians are missionaries and witnesses who
proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ. In 2005, St. James
and Trinity asked St. Paul’s own Aaron Werner to be their
speaker for the festival. This year, they requested of the
St. Paul council that Pastor Paul and Sandi come preach for
their Mission Festival. Because of our shared mission – to
express Christ’s compassion in our community and beyond –
the St. Paul Council gladly agreed to send the Owens. So
Sunday, September 30th, Pastor Paul and Sandi will be
delivering the message for the 10:30 Mission Festival
Service at the Group Camp Facility near Trinity Lutheran
Church in Ocqueoc. There will be a potluck meal following,
and you are invited. Please call St. Paul office for
directions.
