Attention Jr. and Sr. High youth: You're all invited to the newly formed Ecumenical Youth Ministry's "Progressive Lock-in." Join us for dinner at 6pm on September 14th at First Presbyterian Church progressing to 3 other churches through out the evening and ending with breakfast at First United Methodist at 9am on September 15th. Lots of food, fun & fellowship! (& very little sleep!)  Bring your friends. Contact Lauren Hoeksema at 354-7509 to reserve your spot by September 7th. 

A Red Cross Blood Drive will be held on Monday, August 27 from 10:30 a.m. –   4:15 p.m. at St. Mary Education Center, 400 N. Second Avenue, Alpena, Michigan. Please call 354-2322 to register for an appointment or if you have any questions. 

Well, the time for new beginnings has arrived!  The choir and praise band will kick of their season with a potluck on September 6th at 6:00 pm in the multi-purpose room on the second floor.  Please bring a dish to pass, your own table service and the beverage of your choice.  We’ll have a meal together and then get started on the rehearsals.  New members are encouraged to attend!  Come for a rehearsal or two and see if the Holy Spirit is calling you to this powerful ministry!  Call Julie Wood, at 356-1658, if you have any questions. 

CHRISTIAN FAMILY CAMPOUT:  Mark your calendars to attend the Christian Family Campout at Hoeft State Park on September 7th, 8th, and 9th.  This event is an extremely relaxed and unstructured fellowship of Christian families.  No reservations needed.  Potluck Saturday night.  Worship Sunday morning.  For more information please call John and Elly Diamond 727-9971. 

Continuing A Legacy Seminar: Join others from St. Paul on September 17 at 6:00 p.m. for this seminar packed with information on wills, trusts and the latest in tax advantages in estate planning.  Learn how to support our own Endowment Fund, and discover ways of giving to ministries for the long term work of the church.  Denise Burke, Phil Straley and Bryan Strong will present some valuable ideas.  Reservations are appreciated to help us plan for this event. Reading God’s Word at Home: The Egermeier’s Bible Story Book readings for next week are:  Jeremiah Answers God’s Call, page 302, A Crippled Woman is Healed, page 448, and Jesus Answers the Pharisees, page 449.  Parents, will you invest ten minutes a day in your children by reading God’s word with them? All it takes is time.  I’ll bet you’re willing to give it. 

The August Service Activity is School Kits for area students and Lutheran World Relief.  Items Needed:  Backpacks, binders, scissors, glue sticks, glue, crayons, markers, colored pencils, pencils, rulers, pens, pencil top erasers, erasers, paper, 1 subject spiral notebooks, pocket folders.  Please place items in collection baskets in the narthex, fellowship hall or entry in to the Sanctuary.  If you have any questions call Joan Lavoie, Esther Circle Action Secretary at (989) 354-8819. 

This week we join in prayer with the other LARCC churches (Grace Lutheran, Trinity Episcopal, First Congregational, St. Anne, St. Mary, St. Bernard and St. John the Baptist Catholic churches) for the Homebound Parishioners at First Congregational Church.
