This week we join in prayer with the other LARCC churches (Grace Lutheran, Trinity Episcopal, First Congregational, St. Anne, St. Mary, St. Bernard and St. John the Baptist Catholic churches) for the Sunday Supper at Trinity Episcopal Church.

Acolytes are needed for the summer.  If you would like to volunteer please contact Val Urban at 356-4613, or the church office at 356-1658.

The Besser Male Chorus and the Rotary Club of Alpena will be presenting their 60th Annual Spring Concert on Sunday, June 17, at 2:30 p.m.  General admission is $5.00 at the door of the Stanley C. Beck Auditorium of Alpena High School.  Profits will benefit local Rotary charities.

Vacation Bible School starts this Sunday June 17, and runs through Thursday, June 21, from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.  The children are again going to be giving back to the community fleece blankets. We need donations of coordinating pairs of fleece that measure 1 ˝ yards by the full width of the fleece.  Items are still needed for the VBS Wish List.  If you have any questions please contact Kristi Werth at 356-3634.

WE NEED A FEW GOOD MEN! Did you think that Stephen Ministry is just for women? Definitely not, men are strongly encouraged to consider becoming Stephen Ministers. Please take time to read the flyer that Stephen Ministers will be passing out to you after worship.  It presents the view of Stephen Ministry from the male side of the street. Of course, we need women too! Talk to Pastor Paul or Pastor Rod or call Gail at 354-6959, Judy at 595-2247 or Iris at 354-2553.  A new training program begins     August 20, 2007.

The June Service Activity is soap.  Lutheran World Relief works in 35 countries to provide not only relief but to combat the causes of poverty and restore the dignity it robs from people’s lives.  A brand new bar of soap signals dignity and cleanliness.  Lutheran World Relief accepts new bars of any brand soap, in its original wrapping.  All bar sizes are accepted; however, bath-size bars are highly preferred.  Please drop off your donations of soap in the designated spots in the Narthex, Dining Room and top of stairs.  Questions: Sandi Owens – 356-4039 or sowens @charter.net

Reading God’s Word at Home: The Egermeier’s Bible Story Book readings for next week are:  Naboth’s Vineyard, page 267, David’s Sin, page 227, and A Woman Anoints Jesus’ Feet, page 403.  Parents, will you invest ten minutes a day in your children by reading God’s word with them? All it takes is time.  I’ll bet you’re willing to give it.

Beginner Yoga Classes will meet on Mondays and Fridays at the church from           9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. in a third floor classroom.  Please contact Judy Nordstrand with any questions at 354-5507.
