Road to Damascus, page 509, Jesus’ Last Meeting with His
Disciples, page 488, and Dorcas Is Raised from the Dead,

your children by reading God’s word with them? All it takes
is time. I’ll bet you’re willing to give it.
The National Day of Prayer will be held at
the Alpena City Hall on May 3, 2007 from 12:10 – 12:45 p.m.
This year’s theme is “America, Unite in Prayer.” Please
come and join us as we pray for our nation, our leaders and
our people. In case of rain: indoors in the Municipal
Council Chambers. If you have any questions please call Pat
Caderette at 354-3248.
JOIN HANDS DAY – MAY 5th: The Alpena County
Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is sponsoring
local Join Hands Day projects between the hours of 9:30 a.m.
- 1:30 p.m. on May 5, 2007. This year's projects include
teaming with Habitat for Humanity to do general landscaping,
the City of Alpena to clean up McRae Park, and the Victim's
Advocate Short-Term Intervention Group to make fleece
blankets and collect donations of new teddy bears (medium
size), jackets, sweatshirts, pants and socks. The drop off
site for these new items prior to May 5th is Grace Lutheran
Church. The projects are part of the 8th annual Join Hands
Day national day of service. Volunteers are asked to meet
at Grace Lutheran Church, 119 W. Dunbar St., on Saturday,
May 5, 2007, to sign in before going to the work site of
their choice. Snacks and lunch will be provided for all
volunteers. For more information call Vicki Gentry-Denstaedt
at 916-9258 or Emilie Boden at 736-3408.
This week we join in prayer with the other
LARCC churches (Grace Lutheran, Trinity Episcopal, First
Congregational, St. Anne, St. Mary, St. Bernard and St. John
the Baptist Catholic churches) for the LARCC Steering
Committee.
St. Paul will be sponsoring the Alpena
Community Blood Drive at the First Presbyterian Church in
Alpena on Wednesday, May 9. Volunteers are needed to
provide cookies and fruit drink for the blood donors. Other
volunteers will help register donors and give out the
refreshments. Help will also be needed to unload the
equipment in the morning and to reload the equipment at the
end of the day. We will also need people to make phone
calls reminding donors of the blood drive. If you can help
to make this event a success, please call Ann Hardesty at
471-5304.
