MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES: We are in need of
ushers, communion assistants, and lectors, for all three of
the Easter services, April 8. We also need a person to
serve as a “traffic director” during communion distribution
for the 9:00 and 10:45 a.m. services. If you would like to
serve in any of these ways please sign up today on the sheet
in the Narthex, under the service time you are available. We
also need ushers for the Good Friday service. You may sign
up on the bottom of the sign-up sheet in the Narthex. Thank
you for your willingness to serve.
Adult Education Class: 10 Bible Stories
Every Christian Should Know. This week we are studying
Ezra and the rebuilding of the temple. Next week we will
study The Ethiopian Eunuch and his Baptism. This class meets
on Sundays in the dining room at 9:20 a.m. and is led by
Pastor Paul. Child care is provided in the nursery.
Attention altar care ladies - Our spring
cleaning day is Tuesday, March 27th, at 9:00 a.m. Come and
help make the altar sparkle for Holy Week. Questions?
Please call JoEllen, (989) 474-4223.
St. Paul will be sponsoring the Alpena
Community Blood Drive at the First Presbyterian Church in
Alpena on Wednesday, May 9. Volunteers are needed to
provide cookies and fruit drink for the blood donors. Other
volunteers will help register donors and give out the
refreshments. Help will also be needed to unload the
equipment in the morning and to reload the equipment at the
end of the day. We will also need people to make phone
calls reminding donors of the blood drive. If you can help
to make this event a success, please call Ann Hardesty at
471-5304.
The March Service Activity is Lutheran World
Relief Health Kits. People who must flee their homes quickly
often do not have time to pack essential items. LWR health
kits can help children, men and women who are refugees
maintain personal hygiene while living in exile. Items may
also contribute to a new start for those who can return
home. Include the following items in each health kit: One
hand towel, one washcloth (dark colors recommended) one
bath-size bar of soap (in its original wrapping), one
adult-size toothbrush (in its original packaging), one 5-7
oz. squeeze tube of toothpaste, one comb, wide tooth
preferred, one metal nail file or nail clippers with file
attached, six Band-Aids (preferably ½ to ¾”). Secure
Band-aids together with a rubber band. All items should be
new. If donating an entire kit: Wrap smaller items in the
washcloth; wrap washcloth and remaining items in the towel
and tie securely with ribbons or yarn. Do not enclose the
kit or any of its contents in plastic bags. Please leave
donations of one or more items in the designated green
baskets, found in the Narthex, top of the stairs or
Fellowship Hall. Questions: Contact Sandi Owens at 356-4039
(sowens@charter.net).
Easter Breakfast: Plan now to attend the
Easter Breakfast, April 8, put on by Boy Scout Troop #92.
Breakfast will be served from 7:00 – 11:00 a.m. If you have
any questions contact Dennis Johnson, 354-5592 or Ken
Johnson, 356-1589.
Reading God’s Word at Home: The Egermeier’s
Bible Story Book readings for next week are: Mary Anoints
Jesus, page 460, Lazarus Is Raised from the Dead, page 443,
and Jesus’ Last Hours in the Temple, page 468. Parents,
will you invest ten minutes a day in your children by
reading God’s word with them? All it takes is time. I’ll
bet you’re willing to give it.
