Bulletins/Announcements

St. Paul Lutheran’s Mission is to be an expression of God’s compassion in our community and beyond.

WE REMEMBER IN OUR PRAYERS:  Jim Stafford, Deb Lange, Hilma Burnham, Garrett Chrzan, Brett Precord, Ron Hansen, Pamela (Anderson) Courtright, Oliveen Marek, Frieda Maggert, Elana Aal, Corbin Miller, Richard Featherston, Alice Cornell, Helen Nickels, Kathleen Kaszubowski, Alice Stoppa, John Matthes, Charles Neumann, Gary Brilinski, Kenneth Richardson, Peter Benoit, Lisa Borchard, Janet Liske, the Rick Karsten Family, McKenna Moulds, Karen Bisson, and Ken Eklor. (Prayer is the best medicine and we are prepared to pray indefinitely for folks. Would you please help the church office keep our list current?  Unless we know otherwise, our normal practice is to remove names after a month.  Thank you for your partnership in prayer.)

We remember our prayer partners in the North/West Lower Michigan Synod:

Reading God’s Word at Home: The Egermeier’s Bible Story Book readings for next week are:  Five Other Prophets, page 301, The Angel Visits Mary, page 356, and A Wonderful Baby’s Birth, page 358.  Parents, will you invest ten minutes a day in your children by reading God’s word with them? All it takes is time.  I’ll bet you’re willing to give it.

We welcome into the kingdom of God through the sacrament of Holy Baptism (Sat. 5:30 p.m.) Jacob Ronald Zbytowski son of Eric and Stacy Zbytowski.  His sponsors are Raelyn Zbytowski and Greg Fedelem.  May our Lord surround him with His grace as they grow to know Him as Lord and Savior.

The December Service Activity is socks for Henry Ford Hospital.  Clean, used socks are needed in the emergency room of Henry Ford Hospital.  Many patients arrive needing a pair or a single sock to be able to go home.  Please leave donations in the designated spots: Hallway leading into the sanctuary, Narthex or dining room.  Questions: Mary at 595-5675.

St. Mary Parish is hosting a blood drive on Friday, December 29th from 9:00 – 2:45 p.m. at the St. Mary Education Center located at 500 N. Second Avenue.  The need for blood increases during the holiday season.  Please consider giving the gift of life.  For an appointment please call 354-2322.

The Christmas Eve Services will be at 5:30 p.m., 8:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., December 24th.  Holy Communion will be served at all services.  There will be no morning services.

CALL UPDATE:  On Tuesday, December 19th, the Call Committee recommended to the Church Council that a call be extended to Pastor Rodney Haselhuhn.  The Church Council accepted this recommendation and has called a special congregational meeting for the purpose of voting on this issue.  The meeting will be held after each worship service on January 6th and 7th.  Please continue to keep all people involved in the call process in your prayers.

Our Church will participate again this year in the Annual Christmas Church Tour.  This year the tour will be held on Friday, December 29th from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.  Churches participating in this event simply open their doors for visitors to come and enjoy the symbols, sights, and sounds of the Christmas season.  If you have any questions contact Jerry Newhouse at 354-4613 or 356-9317.

A new Bible Study Group will start meeting on Wednesdays in January and February to discuss the book of Acts.  The first meeting will be in the library on January 3, from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.  If you have any questions call Iris Arthur, 354-2553, or Linda Collins, 356-2937.

Coffee Hour: There will be no coffee hour December 24 and December 31.  The crafters will be hosting the coffee hour for January and February.  If you or your group would like to volunteer to host a month please call Sandy Froggett at 358-0118.

Mark your calendars for the Epiphany Dessert - Saturday, January 6, 2007 after the 5:30 p.m. service.  If you plan on attending the dessert event or have any questions please call Paul Kieliszewski at 354-4800 or the church office, 356-1658.

The Bazaar proceeds this year of $9,000 will be given to the Education Building Window Project.  Also 10 % tithe was given to Trinity Sunday Supper and Northern Christian Radio.

Help is needed to open and close the church building on the weekends.  Please contact Don Urban to volunteer or if you have any questions at 354-8115.
