Reading God’s Word at Home: The Egermeier’s
Bible Story Book readings for next week are: Questioned by
His Enemies, page 433, Blind Bartimeus, page 456, and
Zaccheus Climbs a Tree, page 457. Parents, will you invest
ten minutes a day in your children by reading God’s word
with them? All it takes is time. I’ll bet you’re willing to
give it.
The October Service Activity is Operation
Christmas Child. Suggested Gifts: Toys, school supplies,
hygiene items, hard candy and lollipops (please double bag
all candy), mints, gum, T-shirts, socks, ball caps;
sunglasses, hair clips, toy jewelry, watches, flashlights
(with extra batteries). In a separate envelope, you may
enclose a note to the child and a photo of yourself or your
family (if you include your name and address, the child may
write back). Items may be placed in an empty shoe box. See
the October newsletter for further instructions. Please
leave donations in the provided baskets in the Narthex (back
of Sanctuary), hallway or Fellowship Hall. Questions: Lisa
Thayer at 356-0515.
This week we join in prayer with the other
LARCC churches (Grace Lutheran, Trinity Episcopal, First
Congregational, St. Anne, St. Mary, St. Bernard and St. John
the Baptist Catholic churches) for the Youth Group at St.
John the Baptist Catholic Church.
Daylight Saving Time: Daylight Saving Time
ends October 29th. So don’t forget to set your clocks back
on Saturday night (October 28) before you go to bed.
Hymn suggestion box! Want to help pick out
the hymns for service? Here’s your opportunity for input.
The hymn suggestion box is available in the narthex. Just
put the title of your favorite hymn on a slip of paper and
drop it in. The hymn committee will tally the results and
make a “favorite hymn” list. This way our hymn marker of
being a song the congregation loves to sing can be more
easily met. Thanks in advance for your help!
CALL COMMITTEE UPDATE: The Call Committee
has invited a candidate to visit us in early November.
During that time, the candidate will be able to get to know
our congregation and we will have an opportunity to better
understand his ambitions and needs. After that visit, we
will consider moving further in the call process with this
candidate. While we patiently wait, please pray for Bishop
Hansen, the Call Committee, Pastor Paul and the candidate
who will be a part of our process. If you have any questions
or concerns, please contact a member of the Call Committee:
Nancy Coombs, John Diamond, Ann Hardesty, Leonard Kemnitz,
Wayne Kowalski, Rodney Lang, Tiffany Lang, Augie Matuzak,
Beth Strong, Val Urban and David Werner.
The women of the ELCA (WELCA) General Meeting
will be October 24, Tuesday, at 6:30 p.m. in the dining
room. The guest speaker will be Sally Bruski from Habitat
for Humanity. Remember to bring a treasure for the silent
auction. All women of the church are invited.
The Boy Scouts Soup and Pie Dinner & Silent
Auction will be Friday, October 27 from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at
St. Paul Lutheran Church. It will feature a delicious
assortment of homemade soups and pies. The cost is $6.00
for adults and $3.00 for children. Auction donations are
from local merchants with final bidding at 7:00 p.m. All
proceeds go towards Troop 92. For more information contact
Dennis Johnson at 354-5592.
YOU ARE INVITED!!! On Sunday, October 29,
(Reformation Sunday) all members of St. Paul are invited to
meet and greet this years confirmands. As most of you know,
these young men and ladies have spent the past two years
learning about and struggling with their faith. Now on Oct.
29, our congregation welcomes them to a new step in their
faith journey, as joyful servants in our community of
Christ. The senior high students will be hosting a coffee
hour on that Sunday during the Sunday school hour in the
dining room. You’re invited for that hour of fellowship with
our newest adult members. There will not be adult education
hour on that day. We hope you will join us.
Please note – Mark your calendars for
November 4, 2006 for the Christmas Bazaar. Items may be
dropped off Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. in the gym. A
last minute decision was made to have the Book Nook again.
Please drop off any good condition books, games, puzzles and
CD’s to Room 202 anytime before or on November 3rd. Tickets
for the luncheon are now available in the church office or
from any Bazaar member. The cost is $6.00 adult, $3.50
children under 12. Any questions, call Lori Ludwig at
